This glass laboratory hydrometer covers the 1.000–2.000 measurement range and is supplied with a protective storage case. It floats in a sufficiently deep liquid sample so the scale can be read at the liquid surface, supporting density and specific-gravity checks for suitable liquids.

Buyers may search for it as a heavy-liquid hydrometer, glass density meter or specific-gravity hydrometer. Use a clean cylinder deep enough for the instrument to float freely without touching the bottom or sides. The sample temperature, meniscus-reading method and expected density range should match the testing procedure. Clean, dry and return the glass instrument to its case after use.

Select this broad range only when the expected sample density lies between 1.000 and 2.000. A narrower-range instrument may provide easier scale resolution for specialised work. Lower the hydrometer gently to prevent breakage, remove trapped bubbles and take the reading only after the instrument and liquid have settled.
